Cruise Ship Visitors to St. John
Some cruise ships allow passengers to start their visit to St. John by taking a ‘tender’ from the ship to the dock in Cruz Bay before the ship arrives in St. Thomas. This is a great way to get an early start for your exciting day in St. John.
For passengers who arrive directly in St. Thomas – its easy to visit St. John for the day. Some ferries depart directly from Charlotte Amalie – close to the cruise ship terminals. More frequent ferry service is available from Red Hook – a short taxi ride from the dock.
The easiest way to visit St. John is with an Tour Operator who will make sure your arrive back at your ship in time for your scheduled departure. Its easy to organize your own trip with a taxi/ferry to Cruz Bay – but make sure you check your ship’s departure time and leave enough time to get from the ferry dock to your ship since traffic can cause delays if there are several ships at the pier at the same time.
